Supreme Court sets aside Delhi HC verdict decriminalising gay sex

The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday held that homosexuality or unnatural sex between two consenting adults under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code is illegal. It will continue to be an offence.

This verdict seems a major set back to the gay marriage supporters. A Bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and S.J. Mukhopadaya set aside the Delhi High Court’s verdict decriminalising homosexuality.

Sahara Group in Trouble

The Supreme Court has shown its strictness against Sahara Group for not submitting the relevant details of their 2000 crore title deeds of properties to SEBI.

The court has ordered the Group not to sell their any immoveable or moveable property. The court also barred its promoter Subrata Roy Sahara from leaving the country. The order comes out regarding a contempt case filed by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) against two group companies Sahara India real Estate and Sahara Housing Invest, which allegedly have not complied with the Supreme Court’s August 2012 order.

4 States Election results

The results of elections held in four states are being announced. It is very clear from the results that the voters are fed up from Congress and people elected BJP in the three states out of four.

In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, BJP got the overwhelming majority with 165 and 162 respectively whereas Congress got only 58 and 21. In Chhattisgarh, BJP retained itself in power with a thin majority with 49 seats followed by Congress with 39 seats.
