Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao have completed India’s 3 day visit along with a huge business delegation of 400 members. It shows Chinese Premier’s seriousness and eagerness to improve the business relationship with India.

There are some irritating historical factors which block the developments in other areas like border disputes, China’s claim over Arunachal Pardesh, China’s presence in P.O.K. etc. China needs to take more positive steps to create more faith and co-operation with India.

China is providing stapling visas to residents of Jammu and Kashmir and is trying to make Kashmir a three party issue. China is also creating road and rail infrastructure in India’s border areas. If China wants to develop a positive relation with India, he has to depart itself from these negative policies.

India is also concerned of China's growing presence in the region and nuclear aid to Pakistan, construction of dams on the Brahmaputra and Chinese threat in the form of hacking and spying of India’s official networks. China need to understand India’s apprehensions and should try to short these issues in future.

Mr. Wen Jiabao told the gathering of top business leaders that India and China “are partners for cooperation and not rivals in competition.” He said, “There is enough space in the world for the development of both China and India. There are enough areas for us to cooperate,” he further clarified that it was not proper to link China to a “dragon” and India to an “elephant.” “I don't agree with such a view. I don't think business people agree either.”

Bilateral trade between the two nations is likely to touch the $60-billion mark by the end of 2010. Deals worth $16 billion have been signed between the two nations. Mr. Wen Jiabao said, “We will offer more platforms for Indian products in China. Also, by opening markets to each other, we will be most dynamic economies and can support each other in economic development.”

In a joint statement issued today after delegation level talks China said it understands India's aspiration for permanent UNSC seat as the South Asian neighbours agreed to resolve outstanding disputes at the earliest through talks.

But in the second half of his visit when Mr. Wen Jiabao visited Pakistan, he said that he felt as if he is at home and promised a lot of support to Pakistan. It indicates that China will not withdraw its over enthusiastic support to Pakistan in future also.

India and China both need to understand that their disputes over the borderlands will not affect their other bilateral relations in the future. As the two emerging powers of the Asian region, India and China need to work together for the betterment of the region. There are many challenges like trade imbalance, climatic changes, maritime security etc. which require both the countries to work together.
