Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is on China visit and he signed a border defence pact with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. But it seems hard to believe that China will stop its infiltration across Indian border in different geographical areas.

Both side agreed on an agreement to be more co-operative on the borders. Also, India registered its objection on the subject of China’s granting regular visas to the Indians living in Arunachal Pradesh.

The important issues such as river water sharing, India’s negative trade balance with China etc also discussed in the meeting.

The border defence pact is the 4th pact being signed between the two countries but the ground reality is not changing. This time, a five layer communication mechanism is being decided between both the sides. There will be "mutual consultations" to set up a hotline between the two military headquarters.

"We decided to encourage and institutionalise greater exchanges between the armed forces of our two countries," Singh informed after the meeting. The "strategic benchmark" would be to maintain peace on the borders and "move forward the negotiations towards a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable settlement to the India-China border question". Also both countries relations with other countries should not come in between their ties.

The implementation of these pacts always remains the desired. It will be better for both the countries if they show their solidarity towards these pacts and implement them with seriousness in realty.

In recent time, tourism has emerged as an important sector for generating employment, reducing poverty and improving infrastructure in different areas.
