10th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Pink city, Jaipur

This time, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is being held in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 7th to 9th January with the theme “Global Indian – Inclusive Growth”. The first PBD is being held held in the year 2003.

The number of participants in the PBD is increasing year by year. This year, around 1900 delegates attended the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Every year, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is being held from January 7th to 9th. Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards are being given to distinguished PIOs and NRIs every year.


Addressing the 10th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh informed that this year Indian economy is expected to grow by 7% and expressed hope that the momentum of growth will be brought back to 9-10% as the fundamentals of the Indian economy are strong.

Efforts are being made to control the high inflation rates and now food inflation has dropped even to negative growth of inflation.

He also informed that Government is planning to introduce and sponsor a new pension and life insurance fund for the overseas workers. This scheme will encourage the overseas workers to save more.

He also emphasized that Government is always ready to help the needy Indians in all the forms living in foreign countries especially in instable countries.

He said that we are trying to bring more laws and regulation on the pattern of RTI to bring more transparency in the system. Government is aware of the environmental and ecological needs of the world and adopting eco-friendly technologies.

Overall, this event is being organized to build the confidence of PIOs and NRIs to attract more investment from them in India. This event is taken as an opportunity to inform them about the progress made by India on the different fronts.
